One of the benefits of belonging to the Visalia Sportsmen's Association is the ability to use the club's Federal Firearms License. This service is restricted to club members only. The club's Executive Vice-President is our FFL repesentative and handels all FFL transactions for CLUB members only. Since the club orders from a wholesaler, the price on firearms is less that one would normally pay. To ask about a price or to order a firearm or scope, etc. Club members are not charged for this service: however, besides the price of the firearm (or scope, etc.), the member is responsible for paying the California sales tax, the Califorina DOJ DROS ( for firearms only) and shipping cost. Again for Club members only!
The Vice-President will receive shipment of firearm(s) and/or equipment and you will pick it up from him. Firearms must be held for ten days from the time you complete the paperwork. Come to a club meeting for details.

The Dale Wamp range is the site of six bench rest rifle matches per year. Bench rest rifle shooting is the the quest for the ultimate in precision shooting. Bench rest shooters are masters of accuracy and compete in matches the world over.
The Visalia Sportsmen's Association operates and maintains the Dale Wimp Range. This 28-station, 300 yard rifle range with an adjoining 8-line pistol range. Since the range is insured by the National Rifle Association, we are required to have certified Range Safety Officers in charge of the range(s) whenever in operation. We have an on-going need for new range officers to help fill our yearly schedule. As an incentive for this service to the club, range officers are issued a key to the range gate and may use the range on days when it is normally closed.
Range officers are required to perform two days (minimum) of range duty each year, They open the range by 8:00 A.M. and closed by 3:00 P.M.. Besides actually controlling the firing line during use, range officers sign-in shooters, enroll new members, sell/load targets, bore flags, etc, and assist shooters with use of the range. In addition, they may instruct new shooters who needs assistance in shooting, sighting their rifle, etc. After the range closes, the range officers are responsible for emptying trash cans, putting away all equipment and supplies and cleaning up the range.
If you are interested in becoming a Range Safety Officer, contact Chief Range Officer Russ Beechinor. You will be required to undergo a one-day formal training to earn NRA certification and serve three training days with veteran ranger officers.

To keep our range in operating condition, it is necessary to hold three clean-up days per year. All members are encouraged to participate in these clean-up which typically last from 7:00 A.M. to around 12:00 P.M. Workers are provided with a free lunch following the clean-up, RSO's and non-RSO's alike are needed for this task. Normally we have about 30 to 35 members working and that is a very small portion of the total membership. Please consider donating at least one day of your time per year to help us with this vital task. Clean-up days are announced in the club's monthly newsletter and are on the web site.
